a humorous name, often used by British ↑tabloid newspapers, for the Costa del Sol, part of the Mediterranean coast of southern Spain. It is a popular area with British tourists, and it is well known that British criminals used to go to live there before the British and Spanish governments agreed to send each other’s criminals back for trial.
